In the past months, we learned of numerous public figures whose voicemails were breached by the now-defunct News of the World (NOTW). It turns out that Princess Diana and Hasnat Khan, the Pakistani heart and lung surgeon she had a two-year relationship with, might also be on the victim list.

According to The Telegraph, last summer, the doctor was notified by Scotland Yard that his voicemails might have been hacked back in 2007, just before the high-profile inquest into Diana’s death.

However, an unnamed individual close to Khan has revealed that the doctor’s voicemail might have been hacked much earlier, during the time when he was in a relationship with the Princess of Wales.

“Their friendship was very private and very discreet but he now fears journalists were targeting him in a bid to find out what was going on,” the source told The Telegraph.

Now, Khan is determined to seek compensation from News Corp, money that he will donate to a heart unit he is setting up in Pakistan.
