Ubisoft says the eternal Prince that has already starred in a game trilogy for the company is ready to swing into action again in early December in the new re-imagined
Prince of Persia. The
game is set to arrive in North American on December 2 and in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on December 4. The United Kingdom will get the game on December 5. Prince of Persia is going to be released for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
Ubisoft is really trying to do something new with the franchise this time around. The first Prince of Persia trilogy managed to blend interesting gameplay with nice visuals and a deep character. The new game is very different. The screenshots released by the development team show us a game in which the graphics have been deeply influenced by the cell shaded look of fighting titles.
The Prince is now much more retro looking and all the areas in which he moves look like they have been taken out of the mythology of the Arabian Nights. We'll see how long time fans of the series feel about the new look when the game launches.
The gameplay mechanics are also set to change a bit. The time rewinding mechanics of the first trilogy will not make it into the upcoming game. There will be a bit more platforming in some sections of the game and the gameplay will pretty much be centered on getting rid of major opponents, like in Shadow of the Colossus.
The Prince will also be getting a new side kick, in the form of the very attractive Elika, who is an accomplished acrobat.
Be on the look out when the game launches on December 2.
