14 DAY TRIAL // After much speculation and quite a few retailer slip ups, a Prince of Persia HD trilogy has officially been confirmed by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 3, but there are quite a few catches to the new offer.
As was rumored up until now, Ubisoft will be launching a Prince of Persia high definition collection with the three titles from the Sands of Time trilogy, specifically Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.
All of these titles will be packed into a single Blu-ray disk with remastered textures and characters, and run at a smooth 720p HD resolution, complete with anti-aliasing for a smooth experience.
What's more, Ubisoft is also throwing in support for stereoscopic 3D technology, meaning that if you have a 3D-ready TV connected to your PlayStation 3, you will be able to see the prince go through his adventures in all three dimensions.
The Prince of Persia HD collection will deliver around 30 hours of gameplay, according to Ubisoft, but it will be exclusive to Europe, at least for now.
The collection will be launched next month, on November 19, for a special price of 29.99 pounds sterling.
No word yet on if a Splinter Cell HD collection will follow, as that too was rumored a lot in the last few months, and retailers also slipped that it will be launched close to the Prince of Persia trilogy.
Ubisoft declined to comment on the matter, so perhaps things aren't going so smooth with the remastering of the old PlayStation 2 games.
With this new effort, Ubisoft is following in the footsteps of Sony, who already released a remastered God of War HD Collection last year, ahead of the PlayStation 3 debut of God of War 3, and is also getting ready to release two more titles like that one, in the form of the Sly Cooper Collection and the Team Ico Collection.
