If the quality is not there, the new POP game won't be released this holiday season

Many people are eagerly anticipating Ubisoft's latest game in the Prince of Persia franchise, the title that is supposed to revive the series and offer the developers a chance to start it over again and bring us ten more POP games. However, it is quite possible for the entire plan to get a little delay if the developers are not satisfied with the quality of the game - which further means that we might have to wait until next year to enjoy it. Of course, there is this big "if" involved and we're sure Ubisoft will do its best to release Prince of Persia just in time for Christmas shopping.

Ben Mattes, Prince of Persia producer, said to website Eurogamer that "if the quality's not there", the title will slip to 2009, but he also admitted that the developers are doing their best to fix all the problems and bugs and meet the deadline.

"Obviously we're not going to release the game if the quality's not there, that's for sure. But our goal is to make sure the quality is there in time. At least in my conversations [with Ubisoft management] it's got to be out for Christmas. We want the Christmas market; we want a new year staggered with Assassin's Creed."

The game will present the Prince caught in an epic battle between the God of Light, Ormazd and his brother Ahriman, the God of Darkness - yes, it is a clich?, but that doesn't matter too much for now. The latter God manages to destroy the Tree of Life - an act which threatens to plunge the world into eternal darkness. Our Prince will have to solve all the problems - but this time, he won't be alone. He will have to partner with beautiful but deadly spell caster and warrior Elika and heal the world from evil. It only remains to be seen if these become reality in 2008 or 2009.
