"Purple Rain" pop star Prince has upset his landlord by allegedly undertaking a purple makeover of a $16.5 million mansion.
The landlord, a basketball star, has sued Prince, claiming the singer was unauthorized in painting the title of his new album, "3121", and his "prince" symbol onto the exterior of the 10-bedroom, 11-bathroom West Hollywood property.
Prince also installed a purple monogrammed carpet in the master bedroom and had purple stripes painted on the house. Plumbing and piping were added in the downstairs bedroom "for water transfer for beauty salon chairs".
Lawyers for Prince claim that NBA star Carlos Boozer collected his $ 97,500 rent without complaint and that the lawsuit was dismissed in February. His lease of the property reportedly ends on May 31.
Prince's new album is scheduled for release this week. He is expected to hold a private concert at the Hollywood property for album purchasers who find a "purple ticket" inside their CD cases.
