One of, if not the most affordable SSDs on the market, Corsair claims

Every once in a while, an IT company or another will claim that they have completed some outstanding achievement or reached some sort of milestone in their area of expertise. CPU and GPU makers will boast of having raised the bar on efficiency or performance, whereas memory makers will show off new clock speeds. This time around, none other than Corsair has broken the silence. Apparently, the company has somehow managed to drive the price point of one of its SSD series, or of one model, at the very least, far lower than that of any competing devices.

The solid state drive in question goes by the well-known name of Nova and has a capacity of 32GB. It can read at a speed of up to 195MB/s and write data at up to 70MB/s. This enables fast system start-ups and shorter application loading times, notably during games. Additionally, the 64MB of cache memory ensures a stutter-free operation. These benefits come in addition to all the other lovely advantages of Flash memory, namely high endurance, shock resistance and reliability.

Unfortunately, there is a catch to this entire affair, as there always is with promising deals. To be more specific, the 32GB SSD will cost about $70 but only after a mail-in rebate and for a limited time. This means that those not living in the US will have to pay significantly more for such a storage device. Nevertheless, the opportunity to buy a well-reviewed SSD for under $100 doesn't come often and this is likely what the hardware maker is betting on.

“The 32GB Nova Series SSD is great for streamlined boot drives, netbook upgrades, and even RAID configurations,” stated Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair. “The aggressive pricing of these drives makes the benefits of SSDs accessible to everyone.”
