Price Cut for the Xbox 360?

It's true that every console had a price drop or several price drops in its lifetime and Microsoft's Xbox 360 is expected to have one as well. Or, isn't it? According to Steve Ballmer, CEO at Microsoft "every console has had a price decrease in the first few years," emphasizing on these words twice but not saying anything concrete about their console:

"I think every console in the world has had a price decrease sometime in the first few years. I don't know whether we'll have a price decrease in the first few years, and I don't want to comment on that, but I will highlight for you that every console has had a price decrease in the first few years."

What's that supposed to mean? He's saying that every console experiences price drops, even highlighting those very same words again for us to understand that it's possible for the Xbox 360 to experience the same decrease in pricing. And who's going to fall for that? It seems like Mr. CEO is playing at both ends and it wouldn't be that bad if this kind of statement had come from a mere merchandiser or a guy selling electronics on the street, but coming from Microsoft's CEO's mouth... I don't know, it just sounds like they're desperate to keep people interested in their product.

Not cool! Take Sony's approach on their system for instance. They couldn't have had a rougher start with the PS3 and after the frikkin' machine was launched, bad mouths started to highlight its faulty features like not so impressive graphics compared with the 360, or vibration lacking controllers but the Sony team is keeping hopes for the console and doesn't try to influence the consumers in any way. All this being said, I still don't see why Ballmer had to say the same thing twice. Maybe he likes that army talk, you know: "The eagle has landed, I repeat, the eagle has landed."
