European budget tablet manufacturer Prestigio is also jumping on the Intel bandwagon, like many companies do, these days.

The company has been developing an 8-inch tablet and now its specifications have leaked into the wild. The MultiPad Thunder is your average low-cost Android tablet, except it has an Intel CPU bundled on the inside, says ArcTablet.

As I mentioned above, the slate comes with an 8-inch screen and boasts only 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Under the hood, there’s a dual-core Intel Bay Trail Z2580 CPU with a maximum clock frequency of 2.0GHz fitted with PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU.

Furthermore, the tablet has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable via the microSD card. Prestigio also throws in a micro SIM slot and Micro USB 2.0.

Everything onboard is kept alive by a 3700 mAh battery, so the slate should last users enough for performing daily tasks. Thunder runs Android 4.2.2 out of the box, so you won’t be getting any KitKat goodness here.

Intel has previously made public its intention of pushing more and more cheap tablets. Even if at first it was assumed talk about the $99 / €72 tablets referred to Android models, Intel actually plans to lower the prices of Windows 8-based tablets too.

Anyway, low-cost manufacturers like Prestigio are taking advantage of Intel’s willingness to offer cheap chips, so we should expect the Thunder to arrive with a very sensible price-tag.
