In the last couple of days, many smartphones not made by Microsoft received the long-awaited Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2. HTC One M8 for Windows, BLU Win HD LTE and Lava Iris Win 1 are just some of the smartphone that got the update recently.

Today, two new smartphones have been reportedly receiving Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2: Yezz Billy 4.7 and Prestigio 8500 Duo.

Also, the folks over at WindowsPhoneApps have heard that Archos 40 Cesium might be getting the same update as we speak as well.

While everyone was expecting to see Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 being released on as many Lumia smartphones as possible, it looks like Microsoft had something else in mind.

The only smartphones launched by Microsoft that ship with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 are Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. In addition, the Redmond-based company promised that the update would be available for Lumia 735 and Lumia 830 owners too.

Lumia owners are still waiting for the update to arrive on their devices

Unfortunately, that did not happen yet and it's unclear when Microsoft will begin the rollout of Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 to its Lumia smartphones.

Until then though, we see almost all OEMs' Windows Phone handsets being upgraded to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, so the situation is starting to become ridiculous for Lumia owners.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 brings a handful of new features and improvements, which will be included in Windows 10 Mobile as well.

Here is a short list of features included in this update:

- Find the settings you're looking for easily – settings are now reorganised into groups, and you can even search them. - Switch your calendar to show week numbers in the monthly view. - Switch mobile data on and off easily – add a shortcut to the action centre. - Cortana supports new languages: French, German, Italian, and Spanish.

Also, the update brings some Bluetooth connectivity improvements, including HID 1.1, Stack and MAP. Also, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 adds MKV video support.
