The application fully optimized to work on Amazon Fire tablet

Shortly after announcing that its PressReader application will be pre-loaded on BlackBerry Playbook tablet, NewspaperDirect has announced that the Android version of PressReader is now available for free from Amazon.

The application is fully optimized to work on Amazon Fire tablet, which means that owners of the slate will be able to download PressReader for free.

In addition, the application support smartphones that run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, as well as Honeycomb-based tablets.

PressReader provides access to more than 2,000 newspapers and magazines from 95 countries and in 51 languages.

However, while the PressReader for Android and Amazon Fire is available as a free download from Amazon Appstore, new customers will receive seven trial issues for free, whereas each newspaper and magazine can be purchased for at least $0.99 per issue.
