President Barack Obama traveled to Newtown, Connecticut over the weekend to offer whatever assistance he could to the families of the victims of the horrendous school attack. Above is his emotional speech in full.

Besides expressing his grief over the tragedy as a parent, Obama also spoke about the need to take action to prevent anything like it from happening again.

“In the coming weeks, I'll use whatever power this office holds to engage my fellow citizens, from law enforcement, to mental health professionals, to parents and educators, in an effort aimed at preventing more tragedies like this, because what choice do we have? We can't accept events like this as routine,” Obama said.

“As a country we're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of politics,” the President added.
