LibreOffice 4.2 promises to be the best release so far and marks yet another major milestone in the race for the ultimate office suite.

When LibreOffice broke away from OpenOffice, not many people would have placed their bets on the new office suite. A few years later, LibreOffice is the best free suite of its kind and it’s starting to rival the holder of the title, Microsoft Office.

No one is denying the fact that Microsoft’s Office suite is a very good collection of applications, but the truth is that its developers have been working on this product for a much longer period of time.

The LibreOffice community put together a comparison between the two office suites, and even if Microsoft Office is still able to do some unique things, the LibreOffice developers are not far behind. You will even find some features that are missing from the Microsoft product.

In any case, you will be able to judge for yourself in just six days, if you think that LibreOffice 4.2 has what it takes.
