Life simulator The Sims 4 is coming to a Mac near you. More precisely, your Mac. And it’s going to be a free download if you already own the game on a Windows PC in your household.

Electronic Arts has confirmed to the folks at Kotaku that The Sims 4 is finally coming to OS X computers as a digital download, with the ability to import all your progress from the Windows version (in case you somehow want to continue gaming on the Mac). If you’re buying it fresh, it’ll cost you €59.99 (€69.99) for the standard version and €69.99 (€79.99) for the Digital Deluxe version.

Buy one, get one free (sort of)

An EA representative clarified that “the game will be dual-entitled no matter when you buy it. All PC owners will also be entitled to Mac and vice-versa.”

The giant development and publishing studio further noted that there would be no disc version of the game for Mac users, which leaves Origin and the Mac App Store as the only distribution methods (possibly both), and that the game would ship sometime in February. No exact date was given.

The system requirements are currently unavailable for the Mac port, but simply looking at the Windows requirements is enough to realize what the OS X version will demand. However, it’s reasonable to assume that, for a good experience, you’ll need at least 4GB of RAM, a 256MB graphics card, and a processor well beyond 2GHz.
