Although the turn based strategy genre has never been too popular, it has its hardcore fans and developers who are striving to create the ultimate, perfect experience. Ascaron is the company that has just joined the ranks and it will try to revolutionize the genre with Birth of America II: Wars in America 1750-1815, an old school TBS game. We can only hope Ascaron has a wild card up its sleeve, since the games it has created until now are not too good.

However, Birth of America II has the potential to become a big hit: it is the sequel of a pretty famous game, it brings us a real strategy challenge and, probably one of the most important aspects, it allows us to alter history while warring and destroying tons of enemies. Ain't that great? So, put a bandanna on your head and start screaming: "Freedom!".

In BoA2, you'll have to decide tactical moves in order to win each campaign the game challenges you with, while destroying your opponent's armies and conquering or defending certain cities. The game is based on true historical events and uses authentic characters just to offer you the "I'm there" feeling.

The sequel includes new scenarios, like Dunmore's War (1773-1774), the Battle of Fallen Timbers (1794) and the Battle of New Orleans (1815) and hopefully many, many more campaigns, since the developers promise us a great AI and a huge turn based challenge, which we must test, right?

This latest version of the Birth of America series also features new orders such as "spike the guns", "surrender with the Honour of War", "remove a leader" and "unload ships from a distance", which are all pretty self-explanatory. There are also different updates and rules including combat, Indians, minutemen, blockades, naval transport and German mercenaries.

The game will be released on the 19th of September 2008 and just PC owners will get the chance to experience it.
