The name of the popular messaging application is altered and advertised in Eastern Europe. The apparently useful app turns out to be a premium SMS dialer written in J2ME and targeting iPhones that run a Java Virtual Machine.

Symantec's official blog reveals the malevolent app that once it finds itself installed on the device, tries to send text messages to premium numbers, thus filling the pockets of criminal masterminds while pumping up your bill.

By using the name of a popular software, they have a better chance of luring a larger number of victims that might fall for the phony ads, strategically placed on rogue websites.
