14 DAY TRIAL // Ever since Mariah Carey married Nick Cannon, the tabs have been having a field day with speculation about her being pregnant or the date when she’d finally decide to start a family. Just the other day, a report explained her weight gain by the fact that she was on a fertility treatment – as People puts it, the treatment might have just worked for Mariah is out of a new film.
It’s a known fact that Mariah has always wanted to be an actress that would get credit because she deserved it and not just because she was Mariah and she should be in the movies. This is how she explained the fiasco that was “Glitter” and, for a change, she was on a roll, with critics speaking only in praising terms of her part in the bleak drama “Precious.” Therefore, she signed on for another movie, of which she now dropped without as much as offering an explanation.
“Mariah Carey abruptly pulled out of her role in Tyler Perry’s new film this week, People has learned, sparking renewed speculation the singer / actress is pregnant. Carey, who won acclaim for her work in Precious, was set to appear in the adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s 1975 play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. Filming was set to start next month,” People writes.
It’s not unusual for stars to drop out of projects for a variety of reasons though, experience dictates, when this happens in the eleventh hour, like it did now, it’s usually because of some pretty serious personal issues. Hopefully, it’s a baby in Mariah’s case. The singer’s rep unsurprisingly refused to make any comment, though she’s usually very quick to refute such rumors almost the instant they emerge.
“I’m not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time,” Carey’s spokeswoman says for People. However, more on this, even if it’s only more rumors, is bound to emerge in the following days so make sure you keep an eye on this space for when it does.
