Thomas Beatie became a household name when he appeared on Oprah and was dubbed the “first ever pregnant man.” That was, of course, because Beatie was born a woman and he had agreed to carry the couple’s child. He and wife Nancy are now preparing for the fourth.

Speaking with Radar Online, Thomas and Nancy reveal that they still have two samples that allow them to have two more children – and they want to get started as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, the decision does not come at what one may call the perfect moment, because the family is heavily in debt and has just filed for bankruptcy.

The two, together with their 3 children, have already moved to a new house after a disastrous financial year, and are struggling to come out of their predicament, while they’re forced to live on government assistance, food stamps.

But they remain focused on their family and “what’s important,” so they decided to have another child before it’s not too late, especially since, as Thomas puts it, he can only get pregnant a few days a year.

“I am only able to get pregnant four days out of the year. We’d need to try to conceive sooner rather than later,” Thomas tells Radar.

He wants to have one last child and then start hormone therapy again, to get into “proper manly shape.” Radar says Thomas only has 8 menstrual cycles a year, but is only able to become pregnant a few days a year.

“We are staying positive and we’re determined to make this a good family home. We’re both strong people and we’ve been through worse things in our lives,” Beatie says of the financial problems he and his wife Nancy are facing right now.

“People might think this will have affected us and brought us down, but we refuse to let things beat us, and we don’t want anyone’s sympathy,” he says.

Thomas and Nancy have filed for bankruptcy and have already been forced to sell some goods they had in order to make ends meet. Two of their properties are now going into foreclosure, and they’re over $3 million in debt, says the same Radar report.
