Beatie says DWTS isn’t the place for “two famous transgender people”

The other day, ABC announced the official lineup for the 13th season of Dancing With the Stars and, as speculated before in the press, Chaz Bono was confirmed as a contestant – the first transgender contestant ever. Thomas Beatie, the “pregnant man,” believes he should’ve been on the show.

Though no one believed Beatie stood any chance to be on the very popular show, Beatie himself thought he’d make for a wonderful contestant.

He reached out to producers on several occasions to ask them to ask him to be on DWTS, he tells TMZ.

Eventually, he was turned down and he really believes he would have been invited had it not been for Chaz Bono, who eventually filled the “transgender spot.”

“The Pregnant Man – Thomas Beatie – claims he should have been chosen to compete on Dancing with the Stars this season, but says, ‘Chaz Bono stole my thunder’,” the e-zine writes.

“Beatie tells TMZ, he reached out to casting in the hopes of landing a spot a few months ago – but never got a call back. But after DWTS announced that Chaz would be on the show, Thomas says he thinks he knows why he was rejected – the transgender quota had already been filled,” TMZ further says.

Beatie is not resentful or anything, saying for the same media outlet that he “understands” why he wasn’t asked to be on the show after Chaz had already said yes: this town is simply not big enough for “two famous transgender people.”

However, that’s not to say that he’s not sorry he didn’t get the chance to show off his dancing skills.

“I wanted to try my new body out. I’m an athlete and I know I would have excelled,” Beatie says for TMZ.

He’s obviously referring to his recent weight loss: after giving birth to his and his wife’s third child in 2010, Thomas went on a diet and started working out more, until he got his pre-pregnancy body back, as we also informed you at the time.
