14 DAY TRIAL // Lil Kim is pregnant with her first child with rapper Mr. Papers and, just the other day, she threw a “royal” baby shower in New York. As is customary at such events, she registered with various stores selling baby stuff, to help out her guests when it came to picking up presents.
However, she didn’t tell her guests only where she was registered, but even tweeted it to her fans. In other words, Radar Online underlines, she asked her fans to buy her baby gifts, an almost unheard of thing in the celebrity realm.
Considering she was registered at stores like Tiffany & Co., Petit Tresor, Bel Bambini, Buy Buy Baby, and Babies ‘R’ Us, which sell items like a $500 (€364.5) sterling silver baby cup, asking your fans to buy them, even in a polite manner like she did (“Please make sure they check off your gift from the registry after purchase. Thank u guys so much.”) feels like quite a diva-thing to do.
It’s no surprise then that many fans didn’t appreciate the rapper’s idea and even set out to give her a piece of their mind, telling her it was not a nice thing to do because she could very well afford to buy her own baby things.
On the other hand, other fans saw it as a way for Kim to allow her fans to “get involved,” as one insider says for the aforementioned media outlet. It’s not like she can’t afford all those things, it’s more like she’s trying to make her fans feel like they’re a part of this happy moment in her life as well.
In the end though, it’s up to fans to buy those presents or to ignore Lil Kim’s request altogether. As for the real reason behind her telling them where she was registered, we’ll probably never know.
What we do know is that the rapper and Mr. Papers are thrilled about the idea of becoming parents and of starting a new chapter in their life.
At the baby shower, which was put together by celebrity wedding planner David Tutera, they walked the pink and blue carpet together, kissed for the cameras, and posed as a happy couple.
Radar says that Lil Kim arrived, in true diva style, about 4 hours later than she was supposed to but, at the end of the bash, there was no harm done because everyone invited had had a blast and no one minded she came so late.
