Pregnant Jessica Simpson Is Gaining Too Much Weight

Report says Jessica Simpson is at risk of gestational diabetes because of massive weight gain

Jessica Simpson is pregnant with her first child and she's making sure she's having the time of her life with it. She's believed to have gained already more weight than she should have throughout her entire pregnancy, and doctors warn her it's a certain recipe for disaster.

InTouch Weekly claims in its latest print issue (story via here) that the star has gained more weight than is healthy for her – or the baby, for that matter.

Because she's ingesting too many empty calories and exercising zero moderation, she's at risk of developing gestational diabetes, says the celebrity magazine, citing experts who have never met or treated Simpson.

“According to a source, some doctors are equally alarmed at her dramatic weight gain. So much so that they’ve issued a stern warning: Eating too much junk food or gaining too much weight while pregnant increases the chances of gestational diabetes, hypertension and having a baby too big to deliver naturally!” InTouch writes.

Insiders tell the tab that Simpson is almost unrecognizable and they believe it's all down to eating too much under the pretext of the pregnancy.

“She looks really huge, almost unrecognizable,” says one such source.

“Jessica’s the happiest she’s been in ages, and she loves the fact that no one stares at her when she’s downing pizza or eating a tub of ice cream,” adds another.

Experts say using the pregnancy to indulge in unhealthy cravings is very unwise.

“Why would you deliberately sabotage your body with unhealthy, fatty foods? You’re not supposed to eat twice as much – you just need 300 extra calories a day,” nutritionist and author Jackie Keller says.

LA ob-gyn Layne Kumetz, M.D., agrees, saying, “The recommended gain for a woman at a healthy weight is 25 pounds [11.3 kg].”

Admittedly, Jessica has already gained twice the amount.

Then again, reports dated in December last year were saying that she'd already signed a deal with Weight Watchers to become their spokesperson after giving birth.

They paid her $3 million (€2.27 million) to bounce back into shape, so perhaps Jessica has nothing to worry about when it comes to shifting all that extra weight.

Yo-yo dieting has been observed with Jessica over the years. A post pregnancy crash diet is probably what will happen next. That's not good for her body either. People tend to look for quick fixes regarding weight control, but it's a lifestyle choice that is needed. I hope she doesn't develop pre-eclampsia or gestational diabetes.

i've had three children. my biggest weight gain was with my first pregnancy at 21 pounds. i added a couple of glasses of milk to my balanced diet. the longest it took me to get into my jeans was probably 1 month at the most. not only will it take her a long time to loose the weight, but she will undoubtedly be covered in stretch marks and very saggy breasts.

* , you do not get stretch marks from gaining tons of weight, I have gained loads of weight in this pregnancy and have no stretch marks whatsoever.
Jessica simpson will be having a C-section so large baby wont be a concern as it will be surgically delivered anyway

She's got a weight watchers contract, and more than enough money for a personal trainer, why are we freaking out about her weight? oh... health issues.. right.. well guess what she's got doctors too!!! Crisis averted

With those kind of resources it would be wise to be spend the money on the front end.

It would be wonderful to have an organic Vegan chef, pregnancy fitness coach and lots of prenatal massages and the most comfortable of maternity clothes

I weighed 118 before I got pregnant and gained 70 pounds even though I was counting calories according to my dr's recommendation. I also had complications that made it difficult to exercise at all, and I was nauseated for the entire pregnancy. BUT, a year later, I have a super healthy baby and I'm back down to 120 lbs with not much effort besides eating healthy, chasing around the baby, and walking the dog. I understand the pregnancy weight guidelines but it's definitely a generalization. Give Jessica a break.
