Beyonce announced her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards 2011 and, since going public with the news, she’s been having the time of her life, she says in a new interview to MTV News. The pop star and her mother have just launched the latest collection for their House of Dereon and MTV made sure it was there to see Beyonce walk the catwalk at the end of the show in one of her own creations.
Speaking of her outfit, the singer said it was from the latest collection, which, though not meant to include maternity pieces because it was designed 6 months before she found out she was with child, was versatile enough to allow expectant mommies to wear it.
Beyonce also said that she found out being pregnant was very fun from a fashion perspective as well.
“Actually, I am having so much fun, it has been the most fun time now that [my pregnancy] has been announced and I don’t have to, you know, it was really difficult to conceal,” she said.
“But now that I can be proud and excited about it, I’m having so much fun shopping. It’s great,” Beyonce added.
She’s shopping for herself only for the time being, the singer explained, because she doesn’t know yet whether she and husband Jay-Z are having a boy or a girl – or, if they do, they probably don’t want people to know just yet.
As we
also noted on a previous occasion, Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement at the VMAs immediately generated various conspiracy theories, among which the most popular was that she used a prosthetic baby bump on the special night because her own wasn’t that big.
Whether that was the case or not, fans will probably never know.
What they do know, though, is that this is Beyonce and Jay’s first child. Just like when they tied the knot, the two managed to keep the news a secret until they felt ready to
reveal it to the world.
