Active Media Products has really managed to make a name for itself on the SSD market over the past couple of years, and now they're back with yet another very interesting product, the Predator V3, targeting specifically the server environment.

The new storage device line is built around the new Marvell "Van Gogh" 88SS9174 SATA-III controller and is capable of providing some pretty impressive levels of performance, both in terms of transfers speeds and IOPS values.

The Predator V3 SSD is available in two different storage versions, namely 128GB and 64GB versions, whose overall level of performance is also slightly different.

So, the 128GB model offers up to 410 MB/sec / 200 MB/sec Sequential Read and Write Speeds, as well as up to 20,000 IOPS (random read speed, 4KB).

On the other hand, the 64GB model is a bit slower, attaining 360 MB/sec / 100 MB/sec Sequential Read and Write Speeds, respectively, while the IOPS value is restricted to just around 15,000 (random read speed, 4KB).

It's also important to mention that the SSD unit comes packed within a strong aluminum casing, measuring 100 x 70 x 9.5 mm (in other words, standard 2.5-inch drive dimensions).

Moreover, the device, despite providing native support for SATA III (6 Gbps) interface, is also backwards compatible with SATA II and SATA I interfaces, although the level of performance will certainly decrease at this rates.

Additional features provided by the Predator V3 SSD include bad block management and wear technologies, plus support for SMART Feature Set commands, as well as TRIM and NCQ functions, for a higher level of reliability over time.

Pricing for these server-bound SSDs is slightly higher than the one for consumer-grade units, the 64GB Predator V3 selling for around 200 US dollars, while its 128GB sibling is priced at around 339 US dollars.
