Precise Puppy 5.5 RC, a distribution built from Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04.2, alongside the binary DEB packages, providing full compatibility with Ubuntu and access to the vast Ubuntu package repository, has been released.

Precise Puppy 5.5 RC is the first distribution in the series built on Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04.2.

“This pup is built with the same 3.2.29 PAE-enabled i686 SMP kernel as earlier Precise puppies. I have decided to release only one Precise Puppy, with the 3.2.29 kernel. Pemasu is providing the variant and other enhancements,” stated the developer.

Ubuntu 12.04.2 Precise Pangolin is a 5-year long-term supported release, therefore Precise Puppy will be also supported for the amount of time.

Download Precise Puppy 5.5 RC right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a beta version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
