While the changes introduced in the recent 6.2.1 software update for the Kindle Fire brought good news to many, there were still those who were disappointed by the fact that the firmware will break root on their system.

Fortunately, a user on the XDA Developer forum came up with a solution for the latter category as it put together a boot image featuring the 6.2.1 software that comes pre-rooted.

Installation is quite simple according to Liliputing, which also gives you a few pointers on how to do this the easy way, and will get you both the new features and speedier performance of the 6.2.1 update as well as the benefits of running a rooted OS.

The only catch is that you may lose some data when installing this new boot image since it overwrites the system partition, but you should be able to reinstall these in a couple of minutes.
