14 DAY TRIAL // 2K Games and Firaxis have just announced that the highly-anticipated XCOM: Enemy Within is now available for pre-purchase on Steam for €26,99 / $26.99.
Fans of turn-based strategy games that have yet to grab XCOM: Enemy Unknown should know that the new content cannot be played without the base game.
XCOM: Enemy Within is not a standalone expansion, but a massive DLC that requires XCOM: Enemy Unknown to be installed.
The new content DLC comes with new abilities, weapons, and upgrades that will help players combat with new enemies and alien threats.
New soldier abilities include augmentations to various parts of the body. There's also a new strategic resource known as Meld, which can be very useful is successfully secured and taken back to a base, as it unlocks new research and upgrades.
Unfortunately, Firaxis did not specify an exact release date for this expansion, but it looks like it may arrive sometime in November. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
