In the end, although third-generation Intel Core CPUs (Ivy Bridge) were swapped for second-generation (Sandy Bridge), ultrabooks finally reached that $700 / 570 price.

Dell's Inspiron 14z is finally up for pre-order at Amazon, right here.

Measuring 14 inches in diagonal (hence the name), it has an HD screen (1366 x 768 pixels resolution), a hard drive of 500 GB storage and 4 GB of RAM.

What's more, the ultrabook features Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 (two ports), HDMI, a card reader, Bluetooth 4.0 and, of course, Ethernet support.

Buyers can choose to pay a little extra for a solid-state drives (32 to 256 GB), which will improve boot speeds and general performance through SSD caching.

Unfortunately, we don't know exactly when shipments will begin, so “soon” will have to do for the time being.
