The iPhone 5 won't be on sale in the Netherlands until Friday, so people in Amsterdam are already lining up to get a first glimpse at the new phone.

An iPhone 5 was glued to the busy street of Leidseplein, in Amsterdam. Many tried to grab it, realized they couldn't, and left it there.

Some got angry and started jumping on it, while others took pictures in which they appeared they had just dropped their phone and were casually attempting to pick it up.

All the bottled up tension created by the upcoming launch helped make this trick epic. The prank was orchestrated by iPhone5.nl, and the makers stood around to film witnesses' reactions. This video got almost 700,000 views in just 3 days.

The iPhone 5 fever hit Japan last week, where more than 220 iPhones were stolen before the official launch. In one case the thieves actually drove a BMW through a wall to get their hands on the new “it” phone from Apple. Check out the video here.
