Pitivi, a free and open source video editor for the Linux platform based on the GStreamer multimedia framework, is now at version 0.91 Alpha.

We haven't heard in a while from the developers of Pitivi, but it was for a good reason. They redesigned and reworked the entire architecture of the software.

“Since 0.15.2, over 1300 changes have been committed in Pitivi alone. That’s not even counting the incredible amount of work we’ve done in GES and GStreamer,” reads the official announcement.

According to the developers, the core of Pitivi has been replaced by GES (GStreamer Editing Services) and has been dubbed “Charming Defects.”

The application has also been ported to GStreamer 1.x and GTK+ 3.x. GooCanvas has been replaced by Clutter, an automated UI test suite has been added, hundreds of bugs have been fixed, and the UI has been improved.

Check the official announcement for a complete list of changes. Download Pitivi 0.91 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
