When Advanced Micro Devices launched its Radeon HD 5670 DirectX 11-capable graphics card, hardware makers immediately followed suite with their respective custom models, even though the actual differences between their products and the stock device were minimal. PowerColor was also among the companies whose HD 5670 had only a different color and a custom cooling solution to differentiate it from the competing products. Just a short while ago, however, the company introduced a factory-overlcoked version of the device.

Known as the PowerColor PCS+ HD5670, the graphics solution features a slightly increased GPU frequency of 785 MHz (compared with the stock 775 MHz) and its 512 GB of GDDR5 VRAM operate at a clock of 4000 MHz. Like the original, the card enables Eyefinity setups through its DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. In addition, the ATI Stream technology accelerates daily applications, enhancing work and entertaining efficiency, for an increased productivity.

“PowerColor’s PCS+ series has been heralded worldwide through the media and now we’re bringing the series specific feature to the HD5670 series,” Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation, said. “Featuring efficient and quite cooling performance and overclocking ability, the PowerColor PCS+ HD5670 will be the best pick for HD gaming.”

The PCS+ HD5670 is designed with a very quiet, 92mm cooling fan with a low-noise impeller, for a maximum noise output of under 30dB at load. In addition, power-efficient features allow the video card to operate on only the power supplied by the PCI Express slot, requiring no external power connections.

The PowerColor PCS+ HD5670 will be made available next month. The press release does not mention product prices. However, AMD did release the HD 5670 as a mainstream solution, which means that, even with the clock boost and special cooling solution, the graphics card should stay in close proximity to the intended $100 price point.
