Over the past few months, PowerColor has released a significant number of graphics adapters, encouraged by the steady flow of new HD 5000 Series cards with DirectX 11 support from ATI, business unit of Advanced Micro Devices. Now that that flow has settled somewhat, the company has begun work on new versions of existing cards, with the latest such product being the newly introduced PCS++ HD5770. The new video card is described in the press release as an “ultra overclocked solution” and comes with both factory overlcokcing as well as a higher overclocking headroom.
The PCS++ HD5770 is a boosted version of the PCS+ model and has 800 stream processors, support for CrossFireX and Eyefinity and dual DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs. The graphics processing unit has a frequency of 875MHz, whereas the 1GB GDDR5 memory boasts a clock speed of 5,000MHz. These high specifications are made possible by the same cooling assembly used in the PCS+ versions of the card, namely the dual-slot, 92mm-fan-using cooler developed by Arctic Cooling.
The used cooler can push the adapter's operational temperatures lower by up to ten degrees, thanks to its copper base that fully covers the GPU. This increases stability but also the overclocking headroom of the card, allowing enthusiasts to push the GPU to over 950MHz, if they so wish.
“PCS++ HD5770 is an advanced version of PCS+ HD5770, featured not only [with] factory overclocking and superb cooling ability, but [it] also allows the core speed [to] run up to 950MHz,” Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation, said. “This is the right choice for the enthusiast gamers!”
The card will be sold in a bundle with the Dirt 2 racing game. Unfortunately, PowerColor did not give out any information on pricing, but, considering the target price point of HD 5770 cards in general, it is likely that this newest model will cost only slightly more than 150 Euro.
