It should survive heavy splashes and even torrential rain

D-Link continues to launch new networking productS, both wired and wireless. In this instance, we have something that does a little bit of both, but has a different perk as key feature: water protection.

D-Link wanted something that could be installed outdoors and left there, so it made the Wireless N PoE Outdoor Access Point with PoE Pass-Through (DAP-3310), which uses a built-in 10 dBi sector high-gain antenna.

Capable of receiving LAN Ethernet (while living off the energy therein) and transforming it into a 300 Mbps Wireless network, it is waterproof to the point where it complies with IPX6 specifications.

That means it can be splashed with water and even rained on for hours without adverse effects.

Furthermore, data encryption and WPA/WPA2 security functions are included.

Sales will start in December for an unknown price.
