It will make for some very fine mini PCs

Whereas the soon-to-be-launched 1200W Corsair PSU will drive the high-end power market forward, SilverStone decided to look at the other end of the spectrum, though it refused to sacrifice quality.

That's why the upcoming SX500-LG power supply is definitely not a low-end, entry-level product.

Instead, it is a 500W power supply unit which not only provides the efficiency benefits of 80 Plus Gold rating, but does it while taking up less space than the ordinary PSU. About half if we're seeing it right, thanks to the thin profile.

The SilverStone SX500-LG has, or will have since it's not yet on sale, a single +12V rail design, active power factor correction (APFC), and a 120 mm fan that, unlike on the Cporsair PSU, does run all the time.

As this is a fully modular product, you get to choose which of the two 6+2 pin PCIe, one 4+4 pin EPS, 24-pin ATX, three SATA, two Molex, and one Berg cables to install.

People who want a small PC but nonetheless want to be able to play even the latest games are the ones SilverStone is targeting here. Unfortunately, while sales are expected to start later this month, the price is still unknown at the moment.
