As reported towards the end of June, Japan is ready to put the Fukushima incident behind it. Long story short, the country wants to reopen some of its nuclear reactors.

In an attempt to reassure the public that the situation is well under control, high officials have made it quite clear that, before power companies are given the green light to reopen any reactors, they must apply for inspections and hope that they pass them. Inhabitat informs us that, during the past two weeks, Japanese power companies have asked that such inspections be carried out at five nuclear plants that serve the Hokkaido, Kansai, Shikoku and Kyushu regions.

All in all, these companies hope that they will be given permission to restart ten nuclear reactors.

A while ago, some could not even wrap their heads around the idea that Japan was considering giving nuclear power another try.

Now that the reopening of several reactors is almost a done deal, we should expect some protests to be organized in this country.
