Michelle Fairley will be back as “Hooded Woman”

Season 5 of “Game of Thrones” premieres on HBO in April this year, and despite several assurances from producers and Michelle Fairley herself, fans who also read George R.R. Martin’s books on which the show is based still hope that Lady Stoneheart will appear in it.

Fairley, as you must know, played Lady Catelyn Stark until she was killed off at the Red Wedding, together with her son Robb and her people. She hasn’t been seen since 2013, on season 3, when the episode “The Rains of Castamere” aired.

Fans hoped to see her on season 4, but that didn’t happen – and HBO came under serious fire for it. We’ll explain, but first: *please note that this article contains spoilers, so read no further if you want to avoid them.*

The mysterious case of the disappearance of Lady Stoneheart

In Martin’s books, days after she’s buried in the river, Catelyn’s body is recovered by Lord Beric Dondarrion who, by the power of R’hllor, the Lord of Light, brings her back to life. She now goes by the name Lady Stoneheart and is more or less a terrifying and very dangerous zombie, whose only goal now is to seek revenge against all those who wronged her.

And we all know there have been plenty of those, because she’s lost everything from her husband to her children and her home.

Lady Stoneheart has skin like curdled milk and a giant gash on her throat from when it was sliced by a knife, which she must cover with her hand when she wants to speak or else no sound comes out. She’s more monster than human, and she is very, very dangerous.

To those who had read the books, not seeing a cameo of this character in the entire fourth season (or the season finale) was the worst decision HBO producers could ever make, because this isn’t a character you want to leave out.

A short while later, Fairley herself told the media that Catelyn was dead for good and that, to her knowledge, she wouldn’t be brought back, either as zombie or otherwise (say, in a flashback), because there was no more room for her character in the larger story.

The mysterious case of the mysterious “Hooded Woman” on IMDB

So, until the other day, everyone had somehow made peace with the idea that HBO was ditching one of the most interesting characters written by Martin, that of the revived Catelyn, now known as Lady Stoneheart.

But then, this happened: Fairley’s IMDB page now lists an appearance in episode 10 of season 5, which will air in June 2015, where she is credited as “Hooded Woman.” A Reddit user picked up on the addition, posting a photo of it on the website, which you can also find below. As of the time of writing, the IMDB page is still unchanged.

We know that IMDB pages of actors can often be very unreliable, but assuming this one is, there can be only one explanation for it: Fairley will be making a cameo in season 5, episode 10, and the “Hooded Woman” is actually Lady Stoneheart.

If HBO was looking to keep this secret, well… the cat’s out of the bag now.
