This may very well be blogging 2.0, or at least, one possible evolution of the medium

Posterous, the simplified blogging tool that you may have heard of but never used, has gone and revamped itself. While traditional and more modern blogging platforms, i.e. WordPress versus Tumblr, are battling over user numbers and views, Posterous has revamped the concept of blogging with a focus around sharing, specifically, sharing with a group.

If it doesn't sound particularly original, it's because everyone is trying to fix, reinvent, or improve online sharing. From Facebook to Reddit, to Delicious, to YouTube everything revolves around it.

So, do we need yet another sharing service? Well, blogging, at its core, is all about sharing. It exploded in popularity because it gave people a simple way of sharing their thoughts, photos, favorite music or videos.

But new, better tools arrived, Facebook for example, and blogging hasn't been the same. Posterous takes the concept of blogging, as we know it, and brings it to a more modern, more connected and social age.

The service is getting a full revamp, there's even a name change. Posterous Spaces, as it is now called, brings together two previous products, the blogging tools and the group features.

A 'space' is a what someone else would call a site, but the key is that you can share with just the people you want within that space.

This sounds similar to Google Circles and, in many ways, it is, the difference is that Circles is tied to Google+, whereas with Posterous Spaces you gain much more control over the experience, from the theme of your blog/space to custom domains, to, of course, the social graph.

"We’re super-excited to announce the launch of Posterous Spaces. It’s our brand new service for the Web, iPhone and Android that replaces the current service," Posterous announced.

"Why did we create it? Simple – because we think you should be able to share online like you do in real life," it said.

"Whether you want to create a public blog, a private place to share family vacation photos or start a group for your classmates to stay in touch, you can create a Space for it," it explained.

While Posterous Spaces replaces the current product, there's no need to worry for current users, they'll still be able to use it as they always have, their blogs will just become 'spaces.'
