Developers have been rejected the appeal recently

It looks like Google doesn't really judge violent games with the same measure of objectivity. Postal developer Running With Scissors recently announced that their original game has been denied entrance onto Google Play Store for “gratuitous violence.”

Postal games are known for the violence they cultivate, but so are other games like Grand Theft Auto and Carmageddon, which are both available for download through Google Play Store.

The folks over at Running With Scissors confirmed that they “have hit a bit of a snag” with the release of Postal. It looks like Google has denied the addition of Postal into their application store.

“Unfortunately it appears Postal has been rejected from Google Play due to it containing 'gratuitous violence.' Sadly this means it won't be welcomed alongside the Grand Theft Auto series, Carmageddon and horde of Zombie games on Google Play,” said the developers on their forums.

The good news is Postal for Android will still be available for download just not through Google Play store. Running With Scissors is now looking at what options they have for the release of the game.

Android fans will still be able to get Postal, but not via Google Play Store

“There are other outlets though so fear not Postal fans. While this is disappointing for us, it won't stop you from being able to play Postal on your favourite Android device. We are looking into Humble Store, Amazon and other Android App stores.”

The reason invoked by Google for barring Postal from being available in Google Play Store could have denied entrance to other violent games like the ones mentioned earlier; yet, only Running With Scissors' game has been denied release on Google's app store.

According to developers, as soon as they have learned that Google prevented their game from being launched on Google Play Store, they have filed an appeal which, sadly, has been rejected.

The next step Running With Scissors is now pursuing is trying to approach a person from inside Google who will actually understand that Postal is no more violent like other games like GTA and Carmageddon. Here is hoping that justice will be done sooner rather than later.
