14 DAY TRIAL // Postal 2 now stands 15 years old and still has a dedicated fan base large enough to see the game Greenlit for a Steam release. The community has successfully convinced the 1998-released game's developers to put a new patch out.
It's been more than 10 years since the last time anything official-looking has been released by Running With Scissors, but the team seems to appreciate the love they get from fans, enough to address the various issues on the community wish list as well as to add some new features of their own, as reported by PCGamesN.
“The updates are entirely free to present and future owners of POSTAL 2, as a thank you to our community for making POSTAL 2 on Steam a reality (DRM free versions will also get the updates in the new year),” stated the developers.
The update will see a number of mods fused into the core game and will add 68 Steam Achievements to Postal 2, along with an extended number of features.
The updates from popular mod A Week in Paradise have been added and improved upon, and the dismemberment feature has been implemented in the entire game campaign.
The Eternal Damnation total conversion weapons have been included, offering tons of options for mayhem, from axes and chainsaws to dynamite and grenade launchers.
Courtesy of Eternal Damnation, a greater variance in zombie models will be observed, as well as generally improved NPC appearance, everything remade to a higher standard.
A launcher has been added in order to give players the ability to change settings before starting the game, allowing users to experiment with configuration settings without having to dig for the config files every time.
Additionally, a number of other minor updates and bug fixes have been implemented in the revamped Steam release, a full list of which can be found in the official statement.
The game is now available on Steam at a significant 75 percent discount, the offer still standing for another 24 hours or so.
