YouTube has been drumming up interest in the political world, positioning itself as a natural platform for debate. The ability for everyone to post a video and share their view or have their questions heard makes YouTube a powerful tool.

The site has organized several events in which anyone could ask prominent politicians their questions.

Now its asking European citizens, but not only, to think about what they'd want to know from European Commission President José Manuel Barroso.

YouTube users can post their questions as videos and the best ones will be selected for an interview early next month with the President.

"In these turbulent times, we wanted to give people a chance to make their voices heard and ask their questions about the EU," Al Verney, head of communications at Google Brussels, wrote.

"So we teamed up with broadcaster Euronews and invited President Barroso to answer your questions in a special, live YouTube World View interview that will take place on Thursday, October 6 at 10:00am Central European Time," he said.

Whatever your question, whatever you want to know, just make a video of it, in any of the European Union's languages. Users will then get to vote on the most relevant ones which will then be asked by Euronews presenter Alex Taylor.

The interview will be live on YouTube as well as the TV network and will be broadcast in several languages.

The President is holding his yearly State of the Union Address tomorrow morning, at 9am CET. The big topic on hand will be, of course, the economic state of the union and future plans considering the crisis.

While you can already post your video questions to the World View channel, it's probably a good idea to hold off until after the speech. YouTube has hosted several similar interviews in the past with US President Barack Obama, President Kagame of Rwanda, UK Prime Minister Cameron and others.
