The rumor mill has been kind of quiet in the new ASUS tablets department lately, but today information of an upcoming cheaper version of the Fonepad 7 has appeared online.

The ASUS Fonepad 7 is a 7-inch tablet from which users can place phone calls. The tablet draws power from an Intel Atom Z2560 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, combined with 1GB of RAM and backed up by 8GB of internal storage.

The tablet also has microSD card reader and dual cameras, and it has recently received the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

But that’s last year’s news. Now the unannounced Fonepad 7 K00Z has been spotted on the Bluetooth website, getting its certification (via TabletsMagazine). At the moment, this seems to be a slightly modified version of the current Fonepad 7.

According to the filing, the processor powering the slate is an Intel Atom Z2520 clocked at 1.2GHz. The 7-inch screen offers the same 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and the tablet can be still be used to place phone calls.

Apart from this, the tablet remains a mystery, but that doesn't mean we couldn't spot the device as soon as next week at MWC 2014.
