Better matchmaking, username changing, cross-platform chat, and more are coming soon

A brand new survey apparently sent to PlayStation 4 owners has just been leaked online containing some hints about possible features that might be added to the console by Sony in the near future, from a player reputation system to advanced matchmaking, or the possibility of changing your PlayStation username.

The PS4 came out back in November of last year and, thanks to a great marketing campaign and a slew of many different triple-A and indie games, the system is a best seller, managing to move over 6 million units at the beginning of March.

Even so, Sony isn't resting on its laurels and has pledged to release an upcoming firmware update with plenty of different features and improvements, while promising that more great things are coming.

Now, thanks to a leaked survey posted by VGX, it seems that quite a lot of Sony's future plans for the PlayStation 4 have been spoiled.

In the survey, as you can see in the image above, respondents are asked to rate possible features for the PS4 from appealing to unappealing.

Quite a lot of interesting additions are possible for the PS4, according to the survey, starting with a player reputation system that's based on a user rating, similar to the way Microsoft is handling the Xbox Live online service.

More concrete improvements, like an advanced matchmaking system that should help players go up against others with similar skill levels, are also mentioned.

Cross-platform chat and a party system with support of more than eight users, not to mention a message synchronization system are also suggested by the survey.

Respondents were also able to share their thoughts on the ability to change your PlayStation username or to go invisible and not signal to others that you're online.

Check out the full list of questions below.

- Player reputation system based on a user rating system - Advanced matchmaking system (to help pair you with players at your skill level or player preference) - Ability to chat across Playstation Platforms (i.e, with PS3 or PS Vita users) - Ability to change your PlayStation username - Ability to be invisible: see who is online without broadcasting the fact that you are online - Ability to party chat with more than 8 people at a time - Synchronization of messages across platforms, so that PS3/PS Vita messages all appear on PS4 and vice versa - On-screen notifications when your friends come online

As of yet, Sony hasn't commented on this survey so it's unclear what the future holds for the PS4.
