Another road sign was hacked in the US. This time, the pranksters wrote “Warning, Zombies Ahead!” on a sign in Portland, Maine.

The zombie movie fans who did this might have had a big laugh about it, but authorities are not amused. Portland representatives highlight the fact that such pranks are crime, NPR reports.

Authorities are now looking for the hacker and if they catch him, he will be ordered to pay a $1,000 fine (800 EUR) and he could even face a 1-year prison sentence.

This is not the first time road signs are hacked in the United States. Back in August, someone wrote “God hates gays” on one in Provo, Utah.

In July, someone who doesn’t like the US president altered a sign to read “Impeach Obama.”

This latest incident once again underscores the fact that the ones responsible for them fail to properly secure the signs’ control panels. If the boxes that house them are not properly locked up, it’s easy for someone to program it to display whatever message they want.
