Portal 2 was released yesterday, and reviewers all around the world are already praising the new game from Valve, but, at the same time, regular gamers are using review aggregator Metacritic to criticize the game.

Portal 2 was one of the most expected games of the beginning of the year, so it's only natural that its release would cause a lot of commotion in the games industry.

While reviewers and even we in our quick look were impressed with Portal 2, lots of gamers weren't and decided to take revenge on the new title by bombarding its Metacritic page with low scores.

Yesterday, when the backlash was at its full force, Portal 2 had a review score of 95, while users gave it somewhere around 50.

Now though, many gamers came to the defense of the title, and the user average sits at a higher 71 value.

Among the main complaints mentioned by user reviews, we have the in-game downloadable content store, which sells different skins for the two robots featured in Portal 2's co-op mode, Atlas and P-Body, as well as gestures for them to make during cooperative matches.

The mere fact that the DLC was there caused many gamers to feel robbed, demanding that all of it should be released for free.

Another major complaint was that Portal 2 had some files that were designed specifically for consoles in its PC version, with a message in the game prompting users to not turn off their consoles.

While this could be just a simple mistake on the part of Valve, many PC users jumped to the conclusion that Portal 2 is just a console port, and that its developer is abandoning the platform.

Last but not least, other users are saying that the game is much too short because they finished its single-player campaign just four hours.

Most reviewers, however, said that Portal 2's single-player campaign is completed in at least 7 to 8 hours, while the cooperative campaign lasts another 5 to 6 hours, depending on your skills.

What do you think? Has your Portal 2 experience went smoothly or are complaints like the DLC store, console code or short length true? Share your opinions below.

In terms of the game's quality, it's difficult to argue that Valve did not deliver. Portal 2 is an excellent sequel and practically oozes quality!

When it comes to the DLC store, it is disappointing, especially when you consider Valve's original stance on the issue, as illustrated in an article courtesy of EuroGamer.com: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/valve-wont-charge-for-dlc

It's a shame how far Valve has fallen from grace among the PC enthusiasts. Valve are not "abandoning" the PC platform, actually I'd argue that they are reinforcing it with their Steam digital distribution platform.

The DLC is just cosmetic upgrades and you can use hats you've bought from TF2, the real DLC should be coming out in autumn with new challenging levels and co-op missions. which will be FREE just like Left 4 Dead and TF2 have shown in the past.
