Called WG-C20, it will start shipping at some point in November

Servers used to be large, bulky things that had wires sticking out of them everywhere, and lots of indicator lights on the front, but now they can come in very small packages, as small as a smartphone actually, as the WG-C20 from Sony has shown.

You wouldn't think this is a server at all, given the way it looks, like a smartphone itself.

Nevertheless, a portable wireless server is precisely what it is, complete with NFC (for easy wireless pairing), Wi-Fi, and even DLNA (acts like a mini home media server for streaming photos and videos).

In the end, capacity is the only co-called drawback. Since the server had to be so thin (9 mm), it doesn't have built-in storage of its own.

It does have a memory card slot though, which is actually sufficient knowing that content sharing between several phones/tablets and cameras was the purpose of the WG-C20.

Just put in the SD memory card holding your photos and/or videos and you can stream them to any compatible device (including TVs, PCs, other networked DLNA clients, Hi-Fi, etc.).

Finally, a USB connection can be used to connect an external HDD or flash drive, for even more networked content. Sadly, no price is known.
