SanDisk is known for its many storage solutions, but it seems to be gathering more and more attention in a different field, that of consumer electronics focused on multimedia.

The past few years have seen technology taking a turn for the high, even though the economy has not been all that favorable.

As such, more or less every sort of device has risen in not just performance, but also versatility and ease of use, plus aesthetics.

Consumer electronics, especially portable ones, are among those that benefited the most from this phenomenon.

SanDisk is among the companies that have been keeping an eye on such things, even joining in with their own inventions from time to time.

Its latest such move consists of the Sansa Cllip Zip, a portable music player that prospective purchasers will find available in multiple colors.

More precisely, seven color options exist, namely orange, white, gray, purple, red, blue and black.

"The Sansa Clip family ranks among the most popular sub-$50 MP3 players in the United States, and now we've made it even better," said Tom Bailey, senior director, AV retail, SanDisk.

"Our tiny Sansa Clip Zip packs big features that few other MP3 players in its class can match."

Speaking of features, the Sansa has either 4GB or 8 GB of built-in NAND Flash storage, an FM radio, a 1.1-inch LCD screen and a microSD card slot, plus voice recording and a stopwatch.

Finally, to get a clear idea of what media the product can actually cope with, SanDisk gave the full list of supported formats in the press release: MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, AAC and Audible files.

Currently, the 4 GB and 8 GB Sansa Clip Zip are up for sale in the US and Canada, for $49.99 and $69.99, respectively. Europe should receive it soon as well.
