The so-called reality TV curse is taking its toll again, as Kordell Stewart has filed for divorce from Porsha Williams after 2 years of marriage. It wasn’t just the world that was surprised to hear of the filing, it turns out: Porsha was just as stunned, she says.

Hours after confirmation of the filing came, Porsha issued a statement to TMZ to set the record straight: she did not want a divorce because she actually believed Kordell when he told her that they were working on their marriage.

Moreover, she insists that she found out about the divorce in the worst way possible – in the media, and not from the man she believed would be the first to tell her.

“Porsha – who stars on ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ – released a statement through her rep saying she is ‘disappointed about her husband's recent filing for divorce’,” the celebrity publication writes.

While he was out filing the papers for divorce, she was at home thinking they were working things out, the rep implies.

“The rep says Porsha had held off on filing for divorce papers herself because she was committed to the marriage. She says Kordell had promised to work on the marriage with her,” TMZ says.

Instead, Kordell went ahead and filed the papers saying that his marriage was “irretrievably broken” and denying his wife spousal support because she could very well afford to provide for herself, as we also reported yesterday.

“[Kordell] misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith,” the rep says in the statement.

She’s not the only reality star to find out about divorce this way, as fans of the Kardashians’ show must already know: when Kim filed the papers to end her marriage to Kris Humphries, she didn’t even bother to inform him, word has it.

They had been married for just 72 days but he was shocked nonetheless to read in the tabloids that she’d filed for divorce. Kim never addressed this rumor, either to deny or confirm it.
