It should reach up to 95 MB/s when transferring data

It's one thing to launch a flash drive, and another to make a flash drive that can at once be memorable and forgettable, and for both of those things to be positive traits. We dare say LaCie accomplished that.

The look and feel of the new flash drive from LaCie, which is called Porsche Design USB Key, are the reason for that choice of words.

It is memorable because it tries to emulate a key, and it is forgettable because it's easy to strap it to a key chain and forget it's even there.

And that, in itself, is an arguably positive trait because it's not really a bad thing to find out that you need a portable storage device only to realize that you carry one with you all the time.

The new LaCie Porsche Design USB Key can have a capacity of 16 GB or 32 GB, but it's the transfer speed that matters more.

At 95 MB/s, it's not the fastest USB 3.0 product we've ever seen, but it's definitely up there in the top third.

"Porsche Design's electronics series is an elite group of products that represent timeless design and influential technology," says Dr. Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group.

"The LaCie Porsche Design USB Key embodies that by combining high-speed performance with a compelling and usable design."

LaCie quite obligingly put together a product intro video for its latest creation. An interesting tidbit of information is that the company ships it with Wuala Secure Cloud Storage (one-year free account). The AES 256-bit encryption and password protection can't hurt either.

Sadly, the company did not reveal the prices of the 16 GB and 32 GB LaCie Porsche Design USB Keys. Only that they have 2-year warranties stuck to them. You can check your local retailer or online store to see if it's up for order there.
