Populous: The Beginning Cheats and Passwords (PC)

Populous: The Beginning is the third PC strategy god game from the Populous series, developed by Bullfrog Productions in 1998. A version developed by Climax became available on the PlayStation in 1999. Populous: The Beginning is slightly different from the other two Populous games in that instead of playing as a deity (capable of divine intervention) from the beginning, you'll play as the tribe's Shaman (whose destiny is to achieve divinity). The female shaman leads the Blue tribe through a planetary system of 25 planets, each time pitting her tribe against the opposing forces of the Red, Green, or Yellow tribes (the Dakini, Matak and Chumara, respectively).

Each tribe has a shaman and later levels have all three tribes in one world. Whilst the objective is always to eliminate all of the members of the other tribes, there are often specific ways this can be achieved - sometimes through use of spells gained from worship at the world's "artifacts" (stone heads for single-use spells, obelisks for multiple-use spells, totem poles for drastic spell effects and "vaults of knowledge" for permanently learnt spells) or from building up a land-base and breeding and training an appropriately sized army to bring upon the opposing tribes.

Codes

Cheat Mode
Press and hold both TAB and F11 keys to access the text entry screen. Type BYRNE to activate the cheat modes. Exit and then you can activate the following cheats:

Tab + F4 - All Buildings

Tab + F5 - All Mana

Tab + F3 - All Spells

TAB + F2 - Gives you additional mana yet not full mana. Press it multiple times to get the mana bar full.

Passwords

More mana - faster training - faster than normal game speed
Type BYRNE after hitting Tab+F11. Press Tab+F1 to get more mana (faster regeneration) and make training for braves faster.

Also after you type BYRNE you can also increase the game speed by pressing Shift+=. The game speed can be increased 33 folds, up from 5 folds without the BYRNE prompt.

Glitches

BYRNE code glitch 1: rolling demo
When the BYRNE code has been typed in - press F11 and it will start the rolling demo, while you are watching it click the mouse and you can play the demo.

BYRNE code glitch 2: Change World Appearance

READ ALL THE INFO BEFORE YOU TRY IT OUT

When playing the rolling demo save your game then load it, the appearance of your world will be different - but the terrain won't! Repeat the save, load process until you like the appearance you have. WARNING: when you save, load then save again you will lose that appearance!

Secrets

Permanently Hypnotized
Cast hypnotize on any enemy other then a shaman, then send the hypnotized enemies into training huts and train them as something else. When the guy comes back out he will still be in your colors and he will no longer have those rings above his head, making him permanently hypnotized.

Scatter Code
To make a bunch of followers scatter (run around all over the place), select one or more followers and press the D key on your keyboard.
