A vial containing blood of the late Pope John Paul II will soon leave the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington DC and embark on a tour of the United States' east coast.

Thus, this coming weekend, the vial is scheduled to go on display at the Holy Cross Cathedral in the city of Boston, Huffington Post informs.

Sometime after, between July 12-13, the blood will make a stop at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York and, come July 19-20, it will be on display in Philadelphia, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

By the looks of it, the vial of blood is supposed to also make an appearance in Baltimore. However, it is still unclear when exactly this will happen, and which building or monument is to accommodate for it.

Commenting on the decision to have this vial containing some of Pope John Paul II's blood tour the United States' east coast, Cardinal Seán O'Malley stated as follows:

“He meant so much to the people of the Archdiocese of Boston and around the world enlivening in them the presence of God's grace and love.”

Furthermore, “We pray that those who come to the Cathedral of the Holy Cross this weekend will be inspired to carry out great works of mercy through evangelization as the Holy Father exemplified during his years as Pope and priest.”
