The update process for the Linux version now works

Popcorn Time, an application that allows users to stream movies and TV shows directly from torrents without having to download them, has reached version 0.3.5 and is now available for download.

Popcorn Time has shown up once more after a short disappearance. This application lets users watch the latest movies and TV shows without paying a dime, so you might imagine that there is a lot of pressure on developers to stop. They did for a while, but now they are back and seem to mean business. This is the second update in just a couple of months and there is no sign that they are slowing down.

Users need to know that they might be doing something illegal when using this application. The operative word is "might," because it's not illegal everywhere. There are some countries that don't prohibit any kind of P2P sharing, so anything that's not forbidden is usually legal. In any case, you should check if you're breaking the law before using Popcorn Time.

Popcorn Time is a fantastic app, if you don't have any moral quandaries

The application is using the BitTorrent engine, so it works by downloading the movies and TV shows from the Internet, but it lacks the save to disk option. The application only needs to have the right order for the packages and users don't have to worry about the rest. In fact, it's a much more effective way of watching video files. It makes you wonder why companies don't do the same thing.

"This was a turbulent and unpredictable update for us to say the least... So we had to fix some serious bugs, and fix them as swiftly as possible. As we were rushing this release a bit, some things ended up broken on our initial release and we're sorry about that."

"We're also sorry about the users who were forced to redownload Popcorn Time to make it work, or wipe out their favorites databases, we know you loved those shows. This time around we've done our best to make sure we don't have to do this again, but we want to remind that Popcorn Time is still in beta," write the developers on the official website.

The devs also say that the bookmarks are now working properly for the TV shows and for the Anime categories, and the update function has been fixed for the Linux platform, which was more like an annoyance than anything else.

You can download the latest Popcorn Time 0.3.5 release from Softpedia. This is a binary file and it doesn't need to be installed.
