Video game developer PopCap, well known for such titles as Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled and Peggle, has polled the citizens of Britain to find out their New Year's Revolutions and suggests that playing its games is a good way of reducing the stress which is associated with failure to meet the resolutions.

It seems that the most present New Year's Eve decision is to lose weight and keep fit, adopted by no less than 41 percent of women and, surprisingly, about 35% of men.

The second most popular one is to reduce stress and have more fun, with 24 percent of men and 23 of women choosing it.

This is one goal that PopCap made video games can directly address in 2011.

In third place comes a decision to save more money, which at 15% is equally popular among men and women.

The poll was conducted by YouGov and had a sample size of 2,038 adults, with 1,283 of them declaring that they were making a New Year's Eve resolution and the questions were asked and answered between 21 and 23 of December 2010.

The survey also shows that most people plan to set a reward they will get once they fulfill their resolution, with an almost equal number seeking the support of their friends and a smaller number seeking a distraction when they are in danger of failing their goal.

PopCap has also found that 38 percent of the citizens of Britain are saying that January is their least favorite month of the year, with another 18% of them choosing February.

PopCap has managed to create titles that are easy to learn and hard to master while delivering experiences that are colorful and engaging to both casual and more mainstream gamers.

The company has also picked up on the popularity of social platforms and has ported both Bejeweled and Zuma to Facebook.
